Kōji Kondō was born in 1960 in Nagoya, Japan. When he was 17, he decided to pursue music as a full time gig. When Kondō was 23, NIntendo hired him to write music for video games. Kondō was only allowed to use four instruments for the music. This included two monophonic pulse channels, a monophonic triangle, and a noise channel.
